So yesterday, I walked to the Union and came back with three books. One of those was a Terry Brooks Landover novel that I hadn't read. I was in the mood for fantasy, so I got it and picked it up at lunch today.
Only I didn't get very far in reading it. It wasn't the fault of the novel, though.
The first page that I read in that book sparked an story idea for me. It was like getting hit with a brick, and the only thing I could think of after that was the story. I was afraid not to - afraid I would scare it away. Stories have been so hard for me to come by lately, and this one fell into my head so very, very easily, just like they used to, that I was almost afraid to breathe.
But breathe I did, and I also breathed a sigh of relief when I got the story down and posted over at another blog. I think it's a good one, too, if a little sad.
Boy, I hope that the stories start coming back to me again.
I've missed them.

Flowers? Not Yet. Just More Snow.
It's been snowy today - the 19th day of May. Finally, the sun has come out and it is a welcome sight indeed.
I walked up to the Union at lunch. (Pat's suggestion, and it's totally his fault I bought three books because I wouldn't have gone to the bookstore if he hadn't suggested I go to the Union.)
Normally, I enjoy a nice walk in gently falling, big wet snowflakes. They tickle when they brush against your face and they are so pretty -but not in the middle of May. Even I am getting fed up with winter by this time. At least it was warm enough that the snow melted as soon as it hit the ground.
I'm ready for some flowers, doggone it, and some sunshine. The only flowers that are really blooming are bulbs. Even my daffodils are up at home, and the ones on campus are lovely. I do like daffodils. Tulips are up, too. My objection to tulips is that the foliage looks so icky when the blooms fade. At least the daffodil leaves still look decent when the flowers are gone.
Only a few trees are putting out leaves yet. There is a green mist of baby leaves around depressingly few bushes or trees. And after today, I can't really say that I blame them. I'm staying inside a lot myself until the weather gets nicer.
I'm ready to get outside and weed my flower beds and put in some more perennial seeds and see my wildflowers come up and bloom. (Even they are slow to come up this cold spring.) I guess this is my hint to plant more bulbs next fall so I'll have more color than a few small patches of daffodils next spring.

New Blog
Some of the members of the writing group I belong to are doing a new group adventure on Blogger. While I am not up for the writing right now, I did want to try out Blogger - hence the new blog. I think I'll just use it for ramdom ramblings - hence the name.
